The breed has been evolved by the union of the Australian Southdown and the European Texel on the basis of a minimum of 75% of either breed; and must be alert, clean faced, free moving, of good size, character and conformation, well muscled, bearing in mind that the ram should be suitable for crossing with any breed or crossbred ewe to produce an ideal prime lamb.
